Food prices are rising. We’ve all noticed that we’re paying a higher price at the grocery store checkout.
How can we keep within our grocery food budget? Simply put, we must plan our meals around what’s on sale. I can hear you groaning! It’s really not that bad, especially if you think of it like a game.
And because grocery stores have their ads online now, it’s even easier to plan out your family meals for the week.
For instance, Publix’s current promotion has boneless, skinless chicken breast on sale for $1.99/pound. So think up a couple ways you can use chicken breast. Chicken burritos comes to mind. With leftover chicken you could make chicken chili.
If you need another meat to mix it up (I’d advise it, especially for families with kids) then check out the boneless chuck roast, on sale for $3.99/pound currently at Winn Dixie. I’ve posted a great beef pot roast recipe before; look for a crockpot recipe very soon.
Leftover pot roast is wonderful when simmered with Healthy Request Cream of Mushroom soup, a little chicken broth, and a little milk. Throw in some leftover veggies like broccoli or frozen peas, serve with rice, and you’ve got an easy meal!
How do you keep on track with your grocery budget?
